Academic use & research

Free process modeling platform for students and researchers

The BPM Academic Initiative central hub for process modeling on the web
The BPM Academic Initiative is run by academics in business process management and by Signavio, who provides the online platform for process modeling and analysis free of charge for academic use in research and teaching. The BPM academic initiative serves as a central hub for process modeling on the web for academics. To strengthen this role and to avoid redundant work, the Oryx online system will be discontinued from Sept 30, 2011. Persons in academia are invited to use the BPM academic initiative solutions; commercial users might want to consider the Signavio offerings.

Oryx is an open source business process management platform. Started at Hasso Plattner Institute in 2006, Oryx has attracted many universities world wide, who have contributed to the Oryx infrastructure and functional, mostly research specific extensions. Read the wiki, have a look at the screen shots or watch the screencasts. There is also an open source solution available that is specifically tailored towards easy extensibility by academic users, called Signavio Core Components.
